The 12th East Asia Symposium on Functional Dyes and Advanced Materials

Welcome Address

We welcome all of you to the Twelfth East Asia Symposium on Functional Dyes and Advanced Materials (EAS12), to be held at Osaka Metropolitan University, Osaka, from September 24 to 26, 2025. EAS began 22 years ago as a collaborative initiative between the Kinka Chemical Society, Japan, and the Taiwan Dyestuffs and Pigments Industrial Association, Taiwan. The first symposium was launched in Osaka in 2003. Prof. Hiroyuki Nakazumi of Osaka Prefecture University played a pivotal role in connecting the two organizations and founding this symposium. The goal of EAS is to build bridges between academia and industry, promote research collaboration, and encourage the exchange of ideas in relevant scientific fields. Through symposium colloquiums and presentations, researchers and experts from around the world gather to discuss the latest advances in functional dyes and advanced materials. In recent years, with the progress of advanced technologies, increasing attention has been paid to efforts aimed at building a sustainable society. As a result, growing interest has been directed toward next-generation materials that can play a key role in supporting future scientific and technological innovations. In this context, EAS12 will highlight the emerging developments in functional dyes and related materials that are expected to contribute to a wide range of fields such as energy, electronics, healthcare, and environmental technologies. The symposium will focus on a broad spectrum of topics, including: Dyes and pigments, optical and photoelectric materials, organic semiconductors, organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), photovoltaics, sensors, catalysis, functional polymer materials, nanomaterials, and biomaterials. These rapidly growing research fields are anticipated to be at the forefront of future science and technology, driving innovation across both academic and industrial domains.
